What monitoring actually does
- It re-reads the docket on a schedule. Each watched case has its own next check time, so a case is never re-read twice at once and a court outage delays a check rather than losing one.
- It compares what came back to what it already had. Only genuinely new entries count as activity.
- It writes the new entries into the Case Passport. The record of the case gets more complete every week you stay subscribed, which is the part that is hard to walk away from.
- It tells you. And your assistant can ask for the same thing in the same breath as the question that prompted it: "anything new in my case?"
A free check reads the court source and then serves the same answer for 15 minutes. A watched case is re-checked about every 6 hours. Nothing here is real time, and every result carries the time it was last checked.
The court docket is only half your case
Plenty of what matters never reaches the docket: a settlement demand, a meet-and-confer email, a discovery response, a letter from the other side's counsel. CaseMagic gives each monitored case a permanent email address, so that correspondence lands in the same record as the filings and your Case Passport stays current even when the docket is quiet.

How soon will I hear about a new filing?
CaseMagic re-checks a watched case on a schedule measured in hours, not seconds. No service that reads a federal docket is instant, and one that says it is either is not reading the docket or is not telling you the truth.
What counts as new activity?
A docket entry CaseMagic has not seen before on that case. Entries are matched on their content, not just their number, so a corrected or re-filed entry does not arrive twice and a renumbered one does not go missing.
Can I monitor more than one case?
Yes. One matter on Individual, up to ten on Professional and up to fifty on Practice. Every plan includes the same Watch, CaseMail and Case Passport.
What happens if I stop monitoring?
The case, everything already collected about it, its CaseMail address and its Case Passport all stay. Only the re-checking stops.
