Privacy policy
What CaseMagic holds about you, why it holds it, and how to make it stop.
What is collected
- Account: your email address and a hash of your password. Never the password itself.
- Cases you connect: the case number, the court, and the public docket data CaseMagic reads for it.
- CaseMail: messages sent to a case address, their headers, their senders and recipients, their timestamps and their attachments.
- Billing: your subscription status and plan. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach CaseMagic.
- Usage: which pages were viewed, which lookups were run, and which assistant a request came from, with a one-way hash of your IP address rather than the address itself.
What is not done with it
- Your case data is not sold, and is not shared with advertisers.
- Your case records, CaseMail and Case Passports are never published or indexed.
- They are never shown to another CaseMagic account.
- They are not handed to anyone for model training.
AI assistants
When you connect an assistant, you approve a named set of permissions on a CaseMagic consent screen, and that connection can read only the cases on your account. Disconnecting it ends the access immediately.
What the assistant's own provider does with what it receives is governed by that provider's terms, not ours. That is worth reading before connecting anything to anything.
Who else processes it
- The hosting provider that runs the application.
- The database provider that stores it.
- Stripe, for payments.
- The email provider that delivers and receives CaseMail.
- CourtListener, which is where public docket data is read from.
Each holds only what it needs to do its part.
How long
Account and case data are kept while the account exists. Ask us to delete it and it is deleted, other than records we are required to keep for tax and payment purposes. Public court records are not ours to delete.
