Those are two different jobs and only one of them is an answer engine's. Perplexity is very good at the law in general. Add CaseMagic to Perplexity
Perplexity Pro, Max and Enterprise accept custom remote connectors. CaseMagic is one: a standard Model Context Protocol endpoint, the same one ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok use.

Step two is where an answer engine earns its keep: a docket entry reads like “ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE re: failure to prosecute” and that sentence has a deadline hiding in it. Step three is the one nobody does by hand for long.
What Perplexity is allowed to read here
Both of Perplexity's identities are named in robots.txt and allowed everything the public pages allow: PerplexityBot, which crawls, and Perplexity-User, which fetches a page because somebody asked a question about it a moment ago.
Everything that can hold one customer's case is refused to every crawler twice: by robots.txt, and by a noindex, nofollow, noarchive header on the response itself, so a crawler that ignores the first still cannot publish what it found. Can I add CaseMagic to Perplexity?
Yes, on Perplexity Pro, Max and Enterprise, as a custom connector. Add https://casemagic.ai/mcp with Streamable HTTP transport and no authentication, and Perplexity can read any federal docket through CaseMagic: the case, its status, recent entries, documents and the deadlines the docket sets. Watching a case needs a CaseMagic account, and signing in from inside Perplexity has not been confirmed yet, so start watching here or from ChatGPT or Claude; the case then follows you everywhere.
Can Perplexity check my federal case for me?
It can find and summarise things that are already published on the web. A federal docket is not that. Docket entries live behind PACER and in the RECAP archive, they change without notice, and an answer engine has no way to tell you that something was filed in your case an hour ago. Checking the docket and watching it are separate jobs from answering a question, and CaseMagic does those two.
Does CaseMagic let Perplexity read my case?
No, and that is worth stating plainly rather than leaving to inference. Nothing about a case you connect to CaseMagic is published, indexed or handed to Perplexity. The pages Perplexity can read here are the public ones — this one, the court pages, the pricing — and nothing else. Private paths refuse crawlers twice over, by robots.txt and by a noindex header.
Why does CaseMagic allow Perplexity to crawl it at all?
Because somebody asking Perplexity how to get told when something is filed in their lawsuit is asking the question this product answers, and a site an answer engine cannot read cannot be the answer. PerplexityBot and Perplexity-User are both named in robots.txt and allowed everything the public pages allow.
What does the free check actually give me?
The caption, the court, the assigned and referred judges, the filing date, the status, the cause of action, the number of docket entries and the five most recent entries with their real text, plus a free link to a filing where a free copy exists. No account, no PACER login, and the time the docket was last read is printed on the result.
